This weekend I was horribly reminded how my design dream couple, Charles + Ray Eames, were not as picture perfect as I once thought. Then today I discovered Robin + Lucienne Day, a husband and wife power duo often referred to as the British Eameses. I think it's funny that Ray could be a guy's name and Robin a girl's making it seem like each couple is single sex. However it is the differences between the two couples I find the most interesting. Robin and Lucienne actually worked independently of each other yet both managed to be a leader in his or her chosen field. For Robin it was furniture and Lucienne it was textiles. Though I do think Lucienne's designs are far more interesting than her Yankee counterpart. Clearly both were influenced by nature and modernism.
I desperately need a copy editor
